lookattheprettythings:

The kiss of death.

This astonishing sculpture forms part of Barcelona’s Poblenou Cemetery.  The Kiss of Death (El Petó de la Mort in Catalan and El beso de la muerte in Spanish) dates back to 1930. A winged skeleton bestows a kiss on the lips of a handsome young man: is it ecstasy on his face or resignation? Little wonder the sculpture elicits strong and varying responses from whoever gazes upon it.

Dear My Girlfriend,

It’s been five and a half weeks since we last saw each other. With every day we spend a part I feel like more and more of myself is missing. Today was awful. Nothing could distract me from the void inside me that should be filled by you.
I know we’ve only been together a short time, but I’ve never felt this way about anyone. I’ve never missed someone so much that it hurt to be without them.
We talked about it today, how you feel the same way.
Are we crazy? Probably.
Seven more days darling.

I can’t wait to hold you hand.

Fall from Grace (2007)

Today I’m watching Fall from Grace on Netflicks, a documentary about Reverend Fred Phelps.

This is doing nothing for my current stomach ache.

I feel like the worst part of the Westboro Baptist Church is what they’ve done to the minds of their own children. The words that come out of those kids mouths are appalling and unbearably disrespectful.

In what world is it all right to give your child a sign that reads “God Hates -” (pick a topic they cover everything) and have them stand out on the street and yell hateful things to complete strangers. These children say things that I cringe at the thought of saying. Words you’d expect from drunken sailors.  And they don’t know that they are doing anything immoral. These children don’t know that what they’re being taught is terribly wrong.

Though I no longer openly practice the religion I was born into, God will always have an important place in my heart - His Son will always have an important place in my heart. I for one do not believe that either of these divine figures would damn any being to Hell for being who they are, or for serving their country. I believe it is unChristian to  thank God for the death of others, to tell others that God hates them and that they are going to Hell. Everything this man said, everything this man’s children said and his children’s children was wrong. Was horrible. Was incredibly unnecessary.

You cannot “save” the world until you take the time to save yourselves. What you are, what you stand for, is not Christian.

We are not doomed. As we do not live in hate.

Hate will not save you sir. Hate will not save you or your family.
